I AM JEALOUS OF YOU

I am jealous of you,
Who read what I write,
Not because of who you are,
Or who you love or how you fight.

I am jealous of you
Because I am now dead,
Given the swiftness of time—
Here you are, alive, and reading,
With light, the swiftness of my rhyme.

I am jealous of you,
Who came into my life,
And now I don’t remember…
Was there a child? A wife?

I am jealous of you,
Who are silently walking behind
Among the cloudy flowers—
And I, on the same path, am only a mind.
